With the new year approaching, questions begin to swirl in our minds: How has the company performed this past year? What should we continue doing? What should we stop doing? Do I start a new gym membership??? Regardless of the performance from this past year, the goal remains the same. Growth, growth, and more growth.

The platforms your audiences use day in and day out have accumulated data to highlight what keeps their attention the most. Utilizing this information for growth strategies could further establish your company while raising awareness. Adaptability is the name of the game in both the marketing and business world, encouraging us to embrace experimentation and innovation. With that in mind, what media trends can we anticipate will shape the marketing landscape in 2025?

AI
You won’t be surprised to hear that AI-powered personalization is #1 in terms of marketing effectiveness. According to Forbes, AI is revolutionizing how businesses interact with their audience. With the holiday season so close and big sales around the corner, I’m sure you’re noticing an influx of personalized advertising and product recommendations. It’s increasingly common for this marketing approach to boost engagement and conversion rates... I hate to admit it, but I fall into those traps ALL the time! They know me too well!!

Short-Form Video Dominance
We can all agree that TikTok isn’t going away anytime soon. That also means short-form media isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s much easier to designate time scrolling through fifteen 30-second videos than a singular 30-minute YouTube video. We are tricking our minds into thinking we’re still being productive by swiping through countless videos rather than watching one long-form video. With the numerous short-form videos being different topics, the next more entertaining than the last, other social media posts aren’t seeing as much screen time.

The Rise of Voice Search
I find myself asking Siri, Alexa, and Google quick questions all the time. What’s the weather like today? How many tablespoons in a cup? Who won best supporting actress at the 2005 Academy Awards? (It was Cate Blanchett, if you’re curious) The point is voice search is becoming a preferred method of searching for information. No typing, no loading screens, no searching for the right supporting link. The fastest and easiest way to get information, just as you would expect by 2025! So, how does this impact your company? If you want to optimize content for voice search, you need to consider long-tail keywords and natural language.

Sustainable Marketing
A big keyword you may be seeing more often is “sustainability.” Companies have several reasons to pursue eco-friendly practices, a large one being that consumers are increasingly conscious of environmental and social issues. Sustainable marketing practices, like eco-friendly packaging (I’m looking at you, ThredUp, even the sticker is recyclable, you go ThredUp), ethical sourcing, and corporate social responsibility initiatives can resonate with this growing market standard. Take a moment and reflect, how is your company focusing on eco-friendly practices? That’s definitely something to consider in the new year.

The Power of Influencer Marketing
Influencers and celebrities are practically synonymous at this point. Sometimes, influencers are even surpassing celebrity popularity. With such a large and niche following, influencer marketing is a powerful tool for reaching your audience. Businesses use this as a way to authentically promote their products or services while simultaneously building brand credibility.

What strategies will your company implement in 2025?
